The Pacers may not have won, but basketball fans will never forget Lance Stephenson’s hilarious antics in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Heat. In the span of one series, Stephenson tried to get inside LeBron James’ head by saying he has a weakness, was fined $15,000 for flopping on two separate occasions, snuck into the Miami Heat huddle, committed a flagrant foul on Norris Cole, blew air into James’ ear and was subsequently called out by Larry Bird.

After the Heat trounced the Pacers to reach their fourth consecutive Finals, Stephenson posted this message on his Instagram account.

I have much respect for LeBron and the heat. This was a great series they deserve it all love to Heat. Want to say that I’m so proud of my teammates we work so hard all year to get to point, Everything is a learning experience…

LeBron James was in foul trouble for the entirely of Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers, and likely cost his team a trip to the NBA Finals (for at least one more game). James scored seven points in just 24 minutes, and Paul George lifted Indiana to a 93-90 win to make it a 3-2 series.

James only played 10 minutes in the first half after picking up three quick fouls, but the Heat managed to turn an 8-point deficit with under two minutes left in the first quarter to a 9-point lead by halftime. With James off the floor, Miami outscored Indiana by 17 points, and held the Pacers to just 11 points in the second quarter.

Throwback Joe Rogan vs Carlos Mencia

I think it’s pretty cool that Joe Rogan went out of his way to call out Carlos Mencia in a very public way as you can see in the video below. It is almost out of the world of hip hop when you hear a guy use one of your lines in a song. Joe went after ‘Ned’ it was hilarious, and if you look at the two of them now you would see Rogan having a top podcast and ‘Ned’ off the face of the earth. Cool stuff. So enjoy the video if you haven’t seen it….Now as for Joe’s podcast, I really use to think Joe was a cool dude, like I felt he was a real dude, but as I started to listen I noticed that Rogan was really just a jealous dude. He talks and acts like he has an ‘inner peace’ of some sort, but in all reality he doesn’t. Joe went after Ned because he was jealous of him for his success, and sure he had a reason. But on his podcasts, he would just always bring it up, and even mention how he would go look at Ned’s page a lot, just things he was preaching about not doing. Then he really went after Dane Cook when he was on fire, and guess what when Dane went broke and came back to the world, Joe and him made up. Joe just doesn’t like success. The real reason I quit listening to his podcast is because he never lets a guest finish a story, EVER. He is so narcissistic that he just can’t let anybody f*cking talk…and he has never been wrong, ever. That’s my rant, and sure f*ck Carlos Mencia for stealing the art and the craft, just don’t believe that Joe Rogan is about that same craft, he isn’t he just wants the attention on him…

For The Win

2014 was a massive year for Blake Griffin: He helped lead the Clippers to the third seed in the Western Conference, scored a career-high 24.1 points per game, and finished third in MVP voting behind only Kevin Durant and LeBron James. Griffin proved he’s more than just a flashy dunker — but he did a lot of dunking anyway. YouTube user DownToBuck compiled every single one of Griffin’s 176 dunks this season in one exhilarating video.

Griffin’s best dunk of the year is too difficult to determine, but a personal favorite is his accidental posterization of teammate DeAndre Jordan.

For The Win

After the Spurs’ loss to Oklahoma City in Game 3, Gregg Popovich was asked by a reporter about Manu Ginobli, who went to the locker room early on Sunday. Popovich couldn’t resist poking a bit of fun at the Thunder, who said that Serge Ibaka was out for the playoffs only to bring him back for a game.

“He’ll be fine … or he’s out for the rest of the playoffs.”

“You still gotta have some fun even if you lose. Come on. It’s basketball. Yeah we wanted to win but you know, I want to laugh too.”

Today’s big winner: The San Antonio Spurs

Often when the casual fan thinks of the San Antonio Spurs, the most milquetoast of adjectives spring to mind.

The Spurs are steady, consistent, balanced, fundamentally sound, Duncanesque. These aren’t bad things to be by any stretch of the imagination. However, they do get marginalized in a league which values explosiveness, high-power offense, and dominating performances.

Of course, the Spurs have all of those things as well.

It was evident in Monday’s 122-105 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder that the Spurs were steady, consistent, and more complete than any other team in the NBA. It was also evident San Antonio is playing the best basketball of the NBA playoffs. It isn’t even close.

It begins and ends with Tim Duncan in San Antonio – as it has for the past 17 years. Timothy Theodore Duncan dropped 27 points on…

Victim in alleged Phillip Nelson assault had part of brain removed

CollegeFootballTalk

A story that had already hurtled past heartbreaking has taken an abrupt turn toward the horrific.

Last weekend, now-former Rutgers quarterback Philip Nelsonwas arrested in connection to what was reportedly a vicious assault outside of a Mankato, Minn., bar.  Nelson was ultimately charged with first- and third-degree assault in an incident that left the victim, former Div. II football player Isaac Kolstad, hospitalized and fighting for his life.

Saturday, Kolstad’s family released a statement updating his status and it sounds, quite frankly, dire.

Kolstad is currently on life support after undergoing surgery Tuesday to relieve pressure on his brain, three days after allegedly being repeatedly kicked in the head by Nelson and another man who has been charged as well. “A significant amount of his brain tissue that was no longer viable [was] removed,” the family’s statement read, while also confirming Kolstad is not able to breathe on his…

ProBasketballTalk

Kevin Love will essentially be in the final year of his contract with the Timberwolves next season, because he has a player option for the year after that which he’s widely expected to decline in order to become an unrestricted free agent.

That’s if he makes it through next season in Minnesota.

There have been persistent rumblings that Love will pursue a larger market situation that may offer a better chance of winning when the time comes, but the word out of the Timberwolves is that they’re going to do everything they can to convince their franchise player to re-up with a max contract to stay in town.

The latest report has Love’s “people” reminding the Timberwolves that Love may in fact bolt after next season is finished.

From Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News:

Kevin Love’s people reiterated to the Timberwolves this past week that they…
