Final Twilight ‘should be X-rated’ | June 14, 2010

Robert Pattinson wants the final Twilight film to be an X-rated movie for “adults”.

The 24-year-old actor plays vampire Edward Cullen in the hit film franchise. The third movie in the series, Eclipse, is due out later this month and Summit entertainment recently confirmed the final episode Breaking Dawn will be split into two parts, to be released in 2011 and 2012.

Robert can’t wait to start shooting the last films in the franchise, and has joked that he hopes the studio takes the saga in a new direction. Rather than its usual teen angst and sexual tension, the star thinks he and his castmates Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner should just strip off and shoot in the nude.

“I would love it if Breaking Dawn became a totally hard core series for adults,” he said in an interview with French magazine Premiere. “I wonder how they’ll bring that to the big screen. We’ll end up having to ban it for people under 16.

“Can you imagine if they decided to go full out and Twilight suddenly became this totally hard core series for adults with nude scenes? Summit would suddenly become the most progressive studio in the world. It would be funny.”

Robert also opened up about his meteoric rise to fame. He admitted he still struggles with some aspects of his new celebrity lifestyle, and has decided that he has no choice but to accept it, and try to live with it.

“I’d like to not be paranoid of meeting new people,” Robert told the publication. “When I walk down the street I’m scared of meeting anyone’s eye in case they recognise me. I have to hide constantly, it’s a bit unsettling.

“At the same time I live this weird way, I can’t be as open as I wish I could be. You learn as you go. Over the years, you learn to manage the situation more and more, I’m more at ease with the craziness surrounding Twilight.

“I think you reach a peak at some point: either you lose it and become a recluse and turn your back on humanity or you learn to accept it.”
